Question from Dan,
When the Israelites were lead out of Egypt, and they were in the desert why did they complain about food? I was reading how they had manna everyday, endless supply of water, and the Israelites complained about meat. Why didn't they eat any of the lambs, goats, oxen?
My thoughts.
While the Israelites were in Egypt they learn to eat food rich in spices and herbs from the fertile plains of the Nile River. Like leeks and onion and many other spices that they were not available to them in the desert of Arabia. It was more about them being used to a way of life as slaves that the only pleasantries they had was their food. So God was trying to change them so he could have them focus more on him and the great cities that he wanted to give them across the Jordan. Their souls were so saturated with their slavery life-styles in Egypt that they never could see beyond it. So God had to raise a whole new generation that would not be saturated with their old slavery ways. Bondage is in the soul not in a place.
Thank God for the power of Jesus.
