For breakfast this morning, I had three slices of fresh vine ripened tomato, two soft scrambled free-range eggs and some smoked pork that I had prepared and smoked myself only three days ago. Now for a farm boy from the tobacco lands of South Carolina, that was almost a “religious experience”. Wow! That took me back about 40 years.
But it was not nearly as good as the “Lord’s Supper” I had with some friends last night. As we ate the bread (His body) and drank from the cup (His blood) the effects of that meal continues to carry over much longer than my tomatoes, eggs and smoked pork.
Jesus said that when you eat his body and drink his blood, that you eat and drink eternal life to yourself. Not really sure how it all works except the days following communion seem to be a lot more peaceful, productive and life-giving.
As much as I love my farm boy heritage I love my new life in Christ more!
Have communion at home and have a meal that’s a real “spiritual experience” and see how your days go!
And remember do yourself a favor,
Be Life Giving!
