Years ago when I was in the business world I had a boss that would say, “there is nothing you can break that I can’t fix, so get to work and have fun.” Those words gave me the most comfort when I blew it. If someone is not making mistakes along the way it only means they aren’t doing anything. We all make mistakes. No one is on all the time. If anything, it will be a great way to test a leaders life-giving commitment.
So when someone is over their head, change their seat on the bus. Keep giving them the opportunity as long as they give you something with which to work. Life-giving leadership is always looking for ways to say “yes”.
