“Banged Up Shins”

My uncle Bud use to say,  “Shins were for finding furniture in the dark.” Aunt Margaret use to move the furniture around a lot.

If people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves…”
~Proverb 29:18 GNB

The old proverb says that without vision the people perish; or as some say, without vision the people wander aimlessly.

Having a purpose is critical to the success of accomplishing your personal vision.

It’s like having a road map with mile markers written on it.  Having a list of mile markers   helps us plan and allocate resources, schedules and our talents. It helps us to know what to say “yes” and “no” to during the journey. It also allows us, as leaders, to make decisions and stay on vision and on track with what God is doing in our lives.

Southwest airlines for years have had one simple mile marker. “To be the lowest fare airlines.” Once a Southwest executive was asked by a team leader in their onboard food department, “ Should we upgrade our level of food service to steak?” The executive’s only comment was, “Only if it will help us be the lowest fare airline.”

The measurable part of our purpose must be simple to understand and quantifiable.

Having measurable life goals empowers not only us as leaders but also empowers those who follow our leadership.

Be measurable and ‘Be Life Giving’.
